Had to return a defective climbing harness that was beyond the resale policy, since it deemed it was under the manufacturer they immediately gave me a refund and recommended a nicer harness that I really enjoy using! Can't say enough good things about MEC staff. Always so incredibly helpful, patient, easygoing and personable! Today Skippy and another staff person (Skippy would know who I mean but I didn't catch their name!) spent the longest time helping me out and were hilarious and personable all the while. Do not order things online from MEC if you need them within the month. The item (a headlamp supposedly in stock) was supposed to arrive at the store the following week, but it took over a month and a half to show up. To try and get an update+modify the order I tried to call them, but gave up after 30min and used the offered call back service. Never got a callback. I tried to use their live online messaging service. Never got a response. I tried sending them a message that they say they’ll respond to in 24 hours. Never got a response. I later read that if you stay on the phone for an hour you can get through. MEC’s online customer service/fulfillment has either been gutted or is severely dysfunctional. Take order wait times with large grains of salt, don’t expect to get through to anyone easily, and expect things within 3 months. Giving an extra star because I still like the store itself and the employees there, just want people to be aware of how rough the online experience is right now.
Great choice of brands and goods. But a bag for my purchased clothes would have been nice. Things were completely wet after walking home through the rain.
So don’t forget to bring a bag of you shop more or the weather is rainy.

Bike store peeps were awesome. I called and came in as I wasn't sure if my presta valves were old/ dead or my pump was old and the seal wasn't connecting. It was the pump, they sorted me out and showed me how to use it and I'm on my way with happily inflated tires. Thank you so very much!!
There's a bike mechanic here who warrants a commendation for his prowess, genuine kindness, and outward appearance as a distinguished stunner. I would follow Nathan (Nate) Burger into a unlit and perilous cave, with just the inextinguishable light of his soul shining through his narrow gaze to mark our path. And I'd certainly let him twist the limit screws on my derailleur -- yesterday, today, or tomorrow.
I went into the Victoria location today to return a pair of shoes and the experience was extremely disappointing. The cashier I dealt with was having an issue attempting to do the return. Instead of refunding the purchase price I was charged again for the item. The cashier appeared to become flustered and another cashier came over to assist and confirmed I was charged again. The original cashiers face turned red and she walked away. The second cashier apologized for the mistake and proceeded to correct the transaction. The manager then appeared and began to berate me in front of huge line of customers and asked me if I had called the original cashier incompetent. I responded that I absolutely did not call her incompetent nor did I mutter that or the like under my breath. I don't appreciate being accused of saying something that I did not say. I refute any such allegation. My family and I have shopped at MEC for many years. Treatment of this nature to customers is unprofessional.
